IACE Children’s Library Opening

.

The first Italian Children’s Library in New York City opened its doors on May the 12th. The Library offers a variety of books, movies and teaching material to expose young hearts and minds to new and foreign ideas providing direct access to Italian resources. It is located at IACE Centro Raccontami and is open on Tuesdays from 3-7 and Saturdays 1-6 pm.

IACE 2006 Winnersof Summer Program in Campania

Our 2006 Summer Program will take place in Campania, Italy from July 8th to 22nd .

Sixteen students from our Italian courses have been selected and will travel to Naples thanks to a special IACE fellowship.

The award ceremony will take place on June 29th ,at the Istituto di Cultura Italiano. Consul General of Italy, Antonio Bandini, will be present at the event.

Winners: Italy/Italian through my eyes contest

 

IACE in collaboration with “America Oggi” launched a contest called “Italy/Italian through my eyes”. It’s a creative writing/drawing contest open to students of Italian (k-12th), who are asked to write or draw something related to their “being Italian” in their daily life.

Congratulations to the winners Krista Niemeier e Jaclyn Poulis from Hohokus School in New Jersey and their teacher Rina Miraglia.

Summer Camp for Kids at Centro Raccontami

IACE presents the first Summer Camp for toddlers and Kids at Centro Raccontami. Two-week session June 20-30 (July1-15/16-30, August 1-15/16-31) Each day, little campers (age 3 to 5) learn a different subject through dance, drawing, collage and hands-on discovery experiences. A typical day at camp includes an emphasis on art. Students experience storytelling in the IACE Library, craft activities, puppet shows, cartoon time, and snack time. The camp also takes one trip to MoMA museum in New York City.

"La Domenica Italiana"

Italian Language and Culture Workshop for adults Taught by author and master instructor Gabrielle Euvino, author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Learning Italian and The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Italian, this dynamic, fast-paced six hour language workshop covers the basics of Italian grammatica and conversazione.   Play of the Month  

Orlando In Love

Teatromania presents “Orlando In Love” adaptation of M.M.Boiardo’s ‘Orlando Innamorato’ by Jo Ann Cavallo directed by Vittorio Capotorto. Word premiere in Manhattan this summer, the comedy will take place in the open air theater located in Central Park’s Naumburg bandshell, on July 15th,16th and 17th 2006.
