North East Conference 2006

Thanks to all IACE presenters and teachers who attended NECTFL 2006. We also thank those who visited our “animated” and colorful booth! Congratulations to our teachers who won the 20 IACE scholarships for NECTFL 2006! ProgettoScuola.org is a new project created and cosponsored by IACE/ AMERICA OGGI/ GENERAL CONSULATE of ITALY and DIGITALIANS. Through this project IACE students-under the supervision of their Italian teachers- will be able to create and post on-line their own Italian newspaper.

Exploring the Italian Regions
|
Students of various ages are invited to visit the Italian Regions through the many Italian American organizations as well as Federations that are located in New York City: through these associations a wide variety of Italian cultural events are made possible to enjoy. The first event was held at “La Regione Campania” where the students attended several art workshops with Caterina Arciprete (an emergent Italian artist from Naples) and interviewed Domenico Basile (Italian writer). |

“A spasso per Musei”
“A spasso per Musei” is a new Iace initiative! Students of various ages become exposed to the Italian language, while they observe the treasured Italian art that is displayed in New York's Museums. The first stop was at the Metropolitan museum where a group of 6 and 7year old girls(from Al canto del Cucu' program) immersed into a "Venetian Baroque." Next stops:

"Language as Art"
New class at IACE Centro Raccontami Learning how to look at paintings, and understand the cultures and the storytelling behind geometric shapes (rectangles & squares), straight, angular lines, and color, in this class your children will practice also writing and reading in Italian. “Summer Program in Castellammare di Stabia (Campania), 8 - 22 July 2006”
IACE will be offering a Summer Program in Naples, Italy, from July 8 to 22, 2006 to 15 students who are participating in Italian language courses sponsored by IACE. Students will be selected on the basis of their scholarship by means of an essay contest. Applicants will be required to write an essay of between 250 to 300 words on the topic of what they expect to gain from a study-vacation in Campania. Essay should be written in Italian. Deadline May 8th 2006 for the final selection. To Know more please click here.
