IACE
has appointed an experienced and dynamic Italian Teacher
and published author, Sandro Sechi, to coordinate and
teach Italian classes for Adults in IACE’s new center,

Mr. Sandro Sechi was born in Sassari, Sardinia. He
received his degree in Russian Literature from Milan

to publish his first book entitled “Gli Occhi di Oriana”

that Sandro jumpstarted his teaching career and
discovered his love for teaching the Italian language.

Prima della
Prima
is an exciting cultural project sponsored by the Italian
American Committee on Education (IACE) that immerses
students into the art, culture, and language of Italy.
To keep up with tradition, IACE has created a
pre-orchestrated “premier” for all schools that are
participating in Tutti all’Opera by inviting an
opera expert to visit each school and teach a lesson in
Italian. Prima della Prima requires groups of 20
or more to participate. Reservations can be made only
after IACE has received payment in full for Tutti
all’Opera.

IACE
celebrates Italian Heritage and Culture Month
IACE’s
Summer Program 2009 winners shared their exciting
stories and what they learned from their trip to
Sardinia this past August. Both chaperones Professor
Alfred Valentini and Alphonsina Paternostro attended the
event at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York.
Professor Valentini transported the audience to Sardinia
with his film that documented the whole experience. The
students expressed, in Italian, not only the memories
they made and what they learned, but their new found
fascination with Italy, it’s language, and in particular,
the beauty of Sardinia.
