Content-based Activities sample: CUISINE

Learning about pasta, colors and numbers

I have a bowl on the wall ( I thought it would be appropriate to put the pasta in a bowl since that is the way it is eaten) in which we fill up. You can be creative with the bowl or container that you use. Because it is difficult as a special teacher to obtain a space in a classroom, the container you use to put the pasta in will vary. When the bowl is full, we take out the pasta and count everyone's color renaming the colors and numbers. They like to watch the bowl fill up with the pasta knowing that I will have a special Italian treat when it gets full. Sometimes I give out prizes (Italian related) or we eat a couple of crackers with Nutella and then we dance to Italian songs. Repeat as the year goes on. Depending on the size of the container you fill, it may take up to 2 months to fill it. |
