Extracurricular/Afterschool Courses

In the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, IACE administers several language centers which serve children as young as 18 months old, up to age 17.

Toddlers

From ages 1 ½ to 5 years, classes are conducted in Italian by a teacher who engages children in songs, games, puppet shows and craft activities.

Children K-12 Levels:

Beginner I
Students will be able to respond and initiate simple statements and commands, express likes, dislikes and basic personal needs using short phrases and simple sentences.

Beginner II
Students will be able to describe people, places, things and events through conversation and simple dialogues. They will understand the meaning of simple texts on familiar topics.

Intermediate I
Students will be able to interact in a variety of situations with appropiate responses and express details of their everyday lives and of past experiences. They will understand the main ideas of descriptive and narrative texts.

Intermediate II

Students will be able to communicate in most social situations. They will get main facts and ideas from texts such as novels, newspapers, social notices, routine business letters and simple technical material.

Advanced
Students will be able to speak Italian with sufficient accuracy to participate effectively in most formal and informal conversation on practical, social, professional and abstract topics. They will be aware of the aesthetic properties of the Italian language and its literary styles.

At the end of the course students will receive a Certificate of Completion which will enrich their personal portfolio.

Special Italian courses in theather, opera, cinema and art, as well as summer courses will be offered upon request.

  • Toddlers (18 months - 5 years old)
    24 one-hour sessions starting from $192

  • Children & Teenagers (6 - 15 years old)
    24 two-hour sessions starting from $192 (except for courses in Manhattan)

(*) Family discount of 10% for each additional registration.
