Become a Coordinator

Get the opportunity to become the COORDINATOR of a IACE ITALIAN CENTER

IACE sponsors Afterschool Courses for Toddlers, Children and Adults.

  • Children Courses are held weekly and usually run for 24 sessions (1 or 2 hours each) from October to May.

    - from ages 1 to 5 years, classes are conducted in Italian by teachers who engage children in songs, games, puppet shows and craft activities.

    - at the age of 6, children are also introduced to Italian conversation, writing and reading.

  • Adult courses are organized in 12 sessions (2 hours each). Special Italian Courses in theatre, opera, cinema, art, literature as well as summer courses, will be offered upon request.

IACE is currently looking for Coordinators (and/or teachers with strong organizational skills) to start new Italian Centers in the Tristate Area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut).

Please notice that the Coordinator can start a Center even with just ONE course (min. 8 students).

IACE will support the Center by providing*:

  • Coordinator's compensation
  • Teacher's compensation
  • Teaching material and professional development Workshops
  • Liability Insurance
  • Educational and technical assistance for matters related to Italian language and culture
  • Summer Program for qualifying 7-12 graders
  • Discounts for selected Italian cultural events (such as performances of the New York City Opera, New Jersey and Connecticut)

*All registration fee will be made out to IACE.

The Coordinator's Steps to start a IACE Italian Center are the following:

  • Select an area (Please click here to find the "uncovered" areas where your promotional activity would be most needed)

  • Find a site for the classes (e.g. public or private schools, libraries, Italian American Associations/Clubs...)

  • Start to advertise the Center (e.g. School/Universities/Library's Bulletin Board, Italian Festivals, local newspapers. To download Flyers Sample: Children [Pdf], Adults [Pdf] )

  • Recruit a minimum of 8 students per class (max 14)

  • Submit a Proposal (Proposal guidelines [Pdf]) along with Application Form [Pdf ]. (Once the proposal will be accepted, you will receive by mail a "Letter of Acceptance" from IACE with the complete Coordinator Kit.)

  • Organize an Open House: Orientation/Registration Day with an optional "Free Introductory Lesson" (overall presentation of the course, text book, schedule and payment)

  • Reinforce the previous promotional campaign through new flyers with detailed information about location,registration fee and schedule of classes (download Flyers Sample [Pdf ])
