Open an IACE Direct Center!

Become a Head Teacher!

IACE is currently looking for Head Teachers with strong organizational skills to offer Italian courses for children and adults at all levels in their community by opening an IACE Direct Center within the Tristate Area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut). The Head Teacher can start a Center with just ONE course with a min of 8 students enrolled.

 

The Head Teacher's primary responsiblity is to provide overall administration of the center, such as:

  • Presents syllabi for all courses.
  • Ensures a minimum of 8 students are enrolled in every class.
  • Collects and submits all required documenation in the Head Teacher Packet.
  • Organizes at least two meetings per school year with the teachers, preferably at the beginning and at the end of the course.
  • Provides teachers with adequate material (curriculum guides, books, cassettes, etc.) which can be borrowed from IACE.
  • Makes sure that the roster and lesson plan are completed by the teachers.
  • Issues the IACE Certificate of Completion at the end of the course.
  • Is responsible for materials assigned to the center (TV set, computer, books, tapes and videos). In the event that the center is discontinued, the Head Teacher is responsible for returning all IACE property.

The Head Teacher may also teach classes if qualified to do so.

 

IACE will support the Center by providing:

  • Head Teacher compensation (called Curriculum Developement Compensation)
  • Teacher's compensation.
  • Teaching material and professional development Workshops when available.
  • Liability Insurance.
  • Educational and technical assistance for matters related to Italian language and culture.
  • Summer Program for qualifying 7-12 graders.
  • Discounts for selected Italian cultural events (such as performances of the New York City Opera, New Jersey and Connecticut).
  • Free Individual ($30) IACE membership to all students enrolled.
