K-12 Grants for Educational Material

IACE, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in New York, provides incentive grants for Italian language instruction. Any public or private schools in the consular jurisdiction of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut may apply for a grant for educational material to be used towards their Italian program. The Educational Material Grant can reach up to the amount of $8,000 for grades K-12. The grant can be used to purchase materials such as CDs, Italian Films, Italian Textbooks, posters, novels etc. and must be approved by IACE.

There are many resouces available with an array of didatic materials to choose from. Please use our list of Suggested Materials and other Links as a guide.

You may also visit IACE's Library in New York or the Italian Resource Center in Connecticut. To borrow materials, become an IACE Member!


How to Apply:

Once you have done your research you may submit the Education Material Application along with a proposal specifying:

  • the educational materials the school would like to purchase,
  • the total dollar amount requested (dollar amount per item needs to be specified)
  • how the Italian teacher will integrate the material within the curriculum, (i.e. AP Courses, cultural projects, lesson plans, etc.)


Applications will only be reviewed between March 1st and May 31st.

Any applications submitted after May 31st will not be reviewed.

If your school does not wish to matriculate the Italian program into the curriculum right away, proposals for after-school or Saturday pilot programs may be considered for financial assistance. To find out more click on Pilot Program.
