Adult courses

All Italian courses are taught by native Italian instructors experienced in teaching Italian as second language.They follow a communicative approach and are limited in size.

Courses are organized for adults interested in deepening their cultural knowledge or studying just for pleasure.

For intermediate and advanced students, we offer special courses designed to learn Italian through content-based instruction, which integrates language with Liberal Arts Business Medicine and Law.

At the end of the course students will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Students will be exposed to Italian movies, songs and a variety of cultural activities to improve their understanding of the "Dolce Vita" style.

Levels:

Beginner I
Students will be able to respond and initiate simple statements and commands, express likes, dislikes and basic personal needs using short phrases and simple sentences.

Beginner II
Students will be able to describe people, places, things and events through conversation and simple dialogues. They will understand meaning of simple texts on familiar topics.

Intermediate I
Students will be able to interact in a variety of situations with appropiate responses and express details of their everyday lives and of past experiences. They will understand the main ideas of descriptive and narrative texts.

Intermediate II

Students will be able to handle most communicative tasks and social situations. They will get main facts and ideas from texts such as novels, newspapers, social notices, routinezed business letters and simple technical material.

Advanced
Students will be able to speak Italian with sufficient accuracy to participate effectively in most formal and informal conversation on practical, social, professional and abstract topics. They will be aware of the aesthetic properties of the Italian language and its literary styles.

Registration fee

12 one and a half hour sessions, starting from $150 (except for courses in Manhattan )
